According to the teachings of the Vedas, Maya is an invisible and eternal power of God, the Supreme Self, and it is often dismissed, misunderstood, and denounced as being “bad” and obstructive to one’s spiritual growth. This is ignorance. It is said to be the feminine force of creation and that manifests in terms of the three Gunas: Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas; everything in creation has these three attributes and especially the human mind. But Maya is an invisible and eternal power and beyond the three Gunas.
There is Purusha and Prakriti, Shiva and Shakti, and they are both eternal. Maya is Prakriti, the world of nature Herself, and she is our greatest teacher, our greatest Guru. She is indestructible. Human greed is incapable of destroying Her, so we do not have to worry about this present age of extreme greed and human confusion. She is the seductress and as human beings, we have to be seduced into experience, otherwise we remain dormant, stupid, and in a pitiful state of unconsciousness. This is not acceptable and the eternal Maya ensures that this doesn’t happen. The entire phenomenal world is Her manifestation, but She is invisible and Divine, the Mother of all, eternally teaching her bold and arrogant children, the souls of the world, how to become conscious. We are all subject to Her laws and regulations and we must become conscious. This is not an option and we simply have to wake up! Thus every experience is pregnant with soul and an opportunity to become Self-realized.
